## What it is
The state licensing office's March 2023 quarterly webinar: waivers ending, background check and ARPA survey updates, and child abuse prevention and mandated reporting.

## 3 things to know
- Child care providers must report any suspected child abuse or neglect; not reporting can mean jail, a fine, or both. [✓ official source: https://cdss.ca.gov/Portals/9/CCLD/CCP%20Documents/Q1-Deck-2023.pdf?ver=2023-03-23-111636-163#page=18]
- Under AB 2085, "general neglect" no longer includes a parent's economic disadvantage. - The LIC 508 criminal record statement was discontinued from January 1, 2023 (AB 1720). [✓ official source: https://cdss.ca.gov/Portals/9/CCLD/CCP%20Documents/Q1-Deck-2023.pdf?ver=2023-03-23-111636-163#page=7]

## What to do
- Know the signs of child abuse and how to report it. Mandated reporter training is free on the licensing website in English and Spanish. [✓ official source: https://cdss.ca.gov/Portals/9/CCLD/CCP%20Documents/Q1-Deck-2023.pdf?ver=2023-03-23-111636-163#page=13; ✓ official source: https://cdss.ca.gov/Portals/9/CCLD/CCP%20Documents/Q1-Deck-2023.pdf?ver=2023-03-23-111636-163#page=18] [current rule: AB 150 removed the limited-English exemption, so licensees, administrators and staff must complete mandated reporter training and renew it every two years, whatever their English level. The online training is now available in English, Spanish, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional) and Vietnamese (PIN 26-11-CCP, checked 2026-09-29).]
